This did not work, but not for the usual reasons although they are all still there: mean, hairy hero (excuse me, Popeye the One-eyed Hero with an eyepatch lol), an overly forgiving heroine, know-it-all hero on a ranch, an off-page OW that puts out. You know, the regular DP drill.
Nope, what got me on this one is the evil W, no OW as she's the H's sister, is the evil doer here. Best friends since she and the h were kids she stabs the h in the back more than once. Insta-forgiveness of course.

This had all the hallmarks of a traditional Diana Palmer - experienced, older, authoratative man, completely innocent and naive girl. Though the book is 12 years old, that doesn't play well anymore for most people. Except that she doesn't hold completely to this formula. Yes, he's got the experience and she doesn't, but she's not totally naive and he's fighting what he's wanted for years. He keeps saying he doesn't want marriage and that he knows she won't settle for anything elss. Natalie Brock..more

Ok..this book seemed like a precursor to Heartbreaker (Long, Tall Texans) to me. Of course, I liked it anyway! Glutton, I know.

Natalie & Mack
Natalie is the typical DP heroine, orphan, poor, not a beauty and a virgin. This is however a very emotional story about a poor young woman that has always been in love with the H, her best friend's brother, but never reciprocated despite having kissed. Due to a misunderstanding Mack and his whole family pushes Natalie away. ' Abandoned ' by the only family she ever had , she leaves town and starts over in a new city. While in her new job, Natalie has a serious accident that wi

I should have loved it. Virginal heroine, ranch owning alpha male hero, it had all the makings of a favorite. It was a major disappointment. If it weren’t so short I probably wouldn’t have finished it. Other than mentioning he owed a ranch there was no “cowboy” flavor to the book. I totally don’t understand the desire to mention over and over that he has an eye patch. Being a virgin doesn’t mean you have to be a clueless idiot. And the hero was a jack ass.
Seriously, skip it.

I used to hate reading, never picked up a book unless it was forced upon me in school, a friend of mine was raving about this book and let me borrow her copy so I could read it, oh.my.gosh. This book was absolutely amazing, the characters were perfect the story line was perfect, I finished this book in a day if even, I went out and bought myself a copy of this book and a few other Diana Palmer books, I was hooked, my reading tastes have broadened but I still love a good Romance book, this one wi..more

If I'm completely honest, this book only got a four because of nostalgic value. It's a cute story, but the writing and dialogue is kind of amateurish and almost not believable. The story follows Natalie Brock as she wraps up the last of her education to become a school teacher, but most of the focus is of course on the tension between her and Mack, the man who she has known most of her life. The main conflict lies in the fact that though both are attracted to one another, Natalie isn't up for ca..more

I was in the mood for a light romance, and this is one of those go to feel good books I like to read and re-read. I know it like the back of my hand, and especially when I'm all pms-y, I know where I will laugh, cry, cringe, and be happy. Of course the first time I read it, was like 13 years ago as a 17yr old..the whole virgin curious about relationships, men and her own sexuality doesn't apply any more, but now I read it to laugh at myself and remember what I thought back then and just have a..more

I was on vacation. The book was in their library.
School friends find sparks. Mack's afraid to commit. His mother died, then his father became abusive before his death. Mack felt responsible to his younger siblings. Orphaned young, Natalie was raised in an orphanage and later cared for an aged and ill aunt; she is naive and innocent.
He's gruff trying to keep her from wanting to get involved. She's always admired him and felt different around him. Will they overcome the tragedies of their childhoo

A nice, fun and quick read with adorable and endearing characters.
Diana Palmer is such a mood brightener! She always makes me sigh in contentment after reading one of her books--because there, honestly, is not to much conflict-I mean no mass murder's etc.
The heroine does get stabbed but I wasn't to worried about her.
Diana Palmer is like my pick me up writer-when I have a sickday or have nothing to do, she is my girl!

Good book
The feelings between Mack and Natalie started when she was young and he lost his eye. She bullied, begged, and nursed him through all of it. He discovered his feelings for her when her high school boyfriend was killed in an accident. He had to wait for her to grow up and she had to let him find his real feelings for her.

I do not know why I love this book so much, but I do. I cannot stop reading it over and over again! In the beginning I thought it took place back in 1800's or early 1900's, but after the third page I realized that it took place in the present. Truthfully, I do not care what time it occured I just can't get enough of it!

This is my favorite Diana Palmer. For the most part if you've read one of Diana Palmer's books, you've read them all. They all seem to be based on the same theme. A young, sweet innocent girl is in love with an older, possesive, experienced man. Most of her books can be read in an hour, or two, so they make good quick reads.

Mack was lucky that Natalie was so forgiving
I hated that Mack kept getting her riled up and then pushed her away because he hadn't wanted to commit. It took him almost losing her for good to realize he couldn't live without her.

The book was a really good read. Typical Diana Palmer. I love the banter between Heroin and Hero. They had been part of each others lives for most their lives. She been 'imprinted' At 14 by his kisses. Tragedy beings them together.
