Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know. ― Ernest Hemingway (self.quotes) submitted 2 years ago. I feel like i love that show because it's so smart and interesting and makes me excited to live fully in this multiverse but the world is a scary place. Cynicism and an all around jaded view of the world feels like. One of the rarest of all the early Troggs albums, originally released in 1968 under the title 'Mixed Bag' it now sees reissue under a new title with 11 bonus tracks, 9 Seventies' cuts plus 2 further Reg Presley solo tracks.

'Love Is All Around' is a song recorded by English rock band the Troggs, featuring a string quartet and a 'tick tock' sound on percussion, in D-major. It was written by lead singer Reg Presley and was purportedly inspired by a television transmission of the Joy Strings Salvation Army band's 'Love That's All Around'.[1][2] The song was first released as a single in the UK in October 1967, peaking at number 5. On the Hot 100, the record entered at number 98 on 24 February 1968, peaked at number 7 on 18 May 1968, was on the chart a total of 16 weeks, and ranked number 40 for all of 1968.
'Love Is All Around' has been covered by numerous artists, including R.E.M., with whom the Troggs subsequently recorded their 1992 comeback album Athens Andover. R.E.M.'s cover was a B-side on their 1991 'Radio Song' single, and they also played it during their first appearance at MTV's Unplugged series that same year. Wet Wet Wet's cover, for the soundtrack to the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral, was an international hit and spent 15 consecutive weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Richard Curtis approached Wet Wet Wet about recording a cover song to soundtrack his film Four Weddings and a Funeral.[17] The band got to pick between three choices of songs, the other two being 'I Will Survive' by Gloria Gaynor and 'Can't Smile Without You' by Barry Manilow.[17] Singer Marti Pellow related that the decision to pick 'Love is All Around' was an easy choice 'because we knew we could make it our own'.[17] The song, which has a different introduction from the Troggs' version, was recorded in B flat major on 4 January 1994 and released in May.
Chart performance[edit]
On 1994, 'Love Is All Around' entered the UK Singles Chart at number four.[18] After climbing to number two the following week, it finally got to number one on 29 May.[19] It then remained there for 15 weeks, the second-longest UK chart reign of all time (beaten only by Bryan Adams' '(Everything I Do) I Do It for You', which was number one for 16 weeks in 1991, and equalled by Drake's 'One Dance' in 2016). The song spent a further 20 weeks in the UK Top 75.[20] Throughout its chart run, some radio stations banned the song, as many listeners were fed up of hearing it. The band themselves eventually took the decision to delete the record from sale.[21] As of February 2018, it has sold 1.9 million copies in the United Kingdom, making it the country's best-selling love ballad of all time.[22]
Reg Presley famously spent some of his songwriting royalties on crop circle research.[23] Pellow also recorded his own version of the song for inclusion on his 2002 album Marti Pellow Sings the Hits of Wet Wet Wet & Smile.
In 2004, Pellow told the Daily Record, 'We did everybody's head in the summer of 1994.'[24] Nevertheless, Pellow said, 'I still think it's a brilliant record. Its strength is its sheer simplicity. Any band would give their eye teeth to have a hit record like that. I'm very proud of it.'[20] In 2013, the year that Reg Presley died, 'Love Is All Around' was named as the number one song in VH1's The Ultimate Movie Soundtrack: Top 100.

Other cover versions and film uses[edit]
Prior to achieving international success with their single 'These Eyes', 'Love Is All Around' was covered by The Guess Who around 1967/68, and is available on compilation album This Time Long Ago.[54] The song was also covered by Lotta Engbergs orkester as 'Du ger mig av din kärlek' with Swedish lyrics written by Peter Stedt in 1994 [55] while the Spanish rendering 'El Amor Me Envuelve (Sabes Que Te Amo)' was recorded by Rocío Banquells for her 1999 album Fuerza Del Amor. Other covers include an easy-listening version by The Johnny Mann Singers on the 1968 Liberty Records album This Guy's In Love With You • The Look Of Love.[56]
The song appeared in Get Real (1998) directed by Simon Shore, screenplay by Patrick Wilde.[57] After its use in Four Weddings and a Funeral, the song appeared in several of Richard Curtis' other projects, including the 2003 film Love Actually (reinvented as the Christmas song 'Christmas Is All Around' performed by actor Bill Nighy as fictional rock star Billy Mack),[58] and an episode of his sitcom The Vicar of Dibley where it is performed by a church choir. It also played in a season two episode of Orphan Black and included on the TV show's official soundtrack. R.E.M. also covered 'Love Is All Around' for the soundtrack to the film I Shot Andy Warhol.[59] Australian band Human Nature covered the song on their 2018 album Romance of the Jukebox.

Love Actually has been considered one of the best Christmas films for almost 15 years now and the mega-star cast reunited to give fans another taste of their romantic magic. This time it was in the name of charity rather than Christmas cheer.
The cast of Love Actually filmed a mini-reunion special called Red Nose Day Actually. The short originally aired during the British airing of the Red Nose Day charity special in March. However, it was finally shown to American audiences on Thursday night during the US version of the charity special with a special bonus scene featuring Laura Linney that showed everyone where their favorite characters ended up after a decade and a half.
Here's exactly how each of them ended up:
Martine McCutcheon and Hugh Grant, Red Nose Day ActuallyPhoto: NBC, Nick Briggs/Comic ReliefJuliet, Peter and Mark
As shown in the Red Nose Day Actually trailer, Mark (Andrew Lincoln) is still up to his old sign-creating tricks. He made one small pass at Juliet (Keira Knightley), but it turns out that Mark has not only grown a beard (that no one likes) but he's also married. Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor) isn't that worried though and in the end, both couples seem very happy with their lives.

Billy Mack (Bill Nighy) is back to recreating classics in the name of raising money. He's going for the blunt approach this time with a new hit 'Give Me All Your Money,' which he premiered at Radio Watford. On a tragic note, Billy admits that his manager Joe (Gregor Fisher) passed away from a massive heart attack. In brighter news, he's upgraded his 'best shag' to a Kardashian — though he's not sure which one.
Rufus
Rufus (Rowan Atkinson) is still working in retail and still takes gift wrapping more seriously than anyone else on the planet.
Love Is All Around You
Jamie and Aurelia
Jamie (Colin Firth) and Aurelia (Lucia Moniz) are still madly in love despite a sizable language barrier. They have three children — two boys and one girl — who seem to have Jamie very frazzled. There's a big surprise that there is a fourth baby on the way, though Jamie is under the impression he's getting a special dinner instead of a new kid. How are they all going to fit in the car?
Sarah and ???
Song Love Is All Around
Sarah (Laura Linney) didn't end up with Karl (Rodrigo Santoro), but fans were finally able to see the sweet woman get the happy ending she deserves. It turns out Sarah is married to someone who looks like Patrick Dempsey (because the nameless character was played by Patrick Dempsey). He appreciates what a great wife she is so we have to say we approve. Good for you Sarah!
Daniel, Sam and Joanna
Sam (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) is still obsessed with love and confiding in his stepfather (Liam Neeson) on a bench by the Thames. However, it seems that Sam has finally figured out his heart and after over a decade away from each other, it's led back to Joanna (Olivia Olson). The two childhood lovebirds reconnected while Sam has been living in New York and the gorgeous songstress came all the way to London to ask Daniel's permission to marry Sam. We want to know who is going to sing at that wedding.
David and Natalie
Love Is All Around Youtube
David (Hugh Grant) and Natalie (Martine McCutcheon) are back at 10 Downing Street as David returns to being Prime Minister after some time away from politics. He's still got the rhythm, but not the grace as he injures himself pretty badly to Drake's 'Hotline Bling.'
However, the emotional impact of the entire reunion hits hard when David gives an emotional speech to the British press core that mirrors the sentimental monologue he delivered in the original movie about the greatness of England.
Love Is All Around Us
'Wherever you see tragedy, you see bravery too,' David said. 'Wherever you see ordinary people in need, you see extraordinary people come to their aid. Today's Red Nose Day and people are giving cash to people they will never meet, but whose pain and fear they feel and want to fight. So, it's not just romantic love that is all around. Most people still, every day, everywhere have enough love in their hearts to help human beings in trouble. Good is going to win. I'm actually sure of it.'
David always knows how to touch your heart, but he hasn't lost his jokes either. The special ends when someone in the press asks him what he thinks the best Christmas movie is.
'Don't be stupid. Everyone knows its Elf,' David quips.
